Under Campbell's leadership, Iowa State has risen from a perennial underdog to a consistent contender in the Big 12 Conference. Since 2016, the Cyclones have won three conference championships and made three bowl appearances, including a victory in the 2020 Fiesta Bowl.
"Coach Campbell has been a transformational figure in the history of Iowa State football," said university president Wendy Wintersteen. "His passion, dedication, and unwavering belief in our program have brought us to new heights."
Campbell's extension provides stability and continuity at a crucial time for Iowa State. The Cyclones are poised for another successful season in 2023, with a strong returning core led by quarterback Hunter Dekkers and All-American linebacker Gerry Vaughn.
